Dads like you
Happy Father’s Day dads! Blogs everywhere are posting their cheers to great dads.
The editors at the Age of Autism write:
Happy Father’s Day to the Dads who’ve stuck by their kids and their wives. … To the men who hold onto their child during a meltdown - while Mom grabs the activated charcoal. To the men who miss T-ball and soccer practices, instead going to speech therapy and social skills groups.
The National Autism Association gets in on the Father’s Day celebration action by creating a special advertisement.
You can read the full post and view the ad (might want to keep a tissue handy) here.
Bad rap for dads
“Fathers typically get a bad rap in the autism community,” writes S.L., author of Stop. Think. Autism. “They are stereotyped as being distant, unable to handle the autism diagnosis, and often removed from the day to day care of their autistic child.”
S.L. writes that behavior can happen, but there are plenty of great dads out there working hard to raise their kids.
Sometimes their efforts might not be immediately recognizable because they have a different approach. She shares an example from her life.
Happy Daddy Day
This post is a delightful collage of photos with dad hanging out with his kids.
The author of Life With Joey (or perhaps it’s the kids) writes, “We love you, Dad. Here’s to lots of days and lots of adventures with you!”
