I had a 27 weeker and she was delivered without any long term complications. I went into early labor without any warning signs. Later to find out that I had an infection in my placenta that was causing the early trigger of labor. It's a scary time and you feel like you have no control but things will work out just like they should.

Sending thoughts and prayers your way... I had pre-eclampsia too, although was lucky enough to make it to 33 1/2 weeks. What modern medicine can do for preemies is amazing, even born very early, but hopefully with bedrest you'll be able to delay a little longer.

How scary! I know that you are doing everything you need to for your sweet babette. You are a great Mommy!

Hugs from Seattle,

Hey Mom! This guy: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lectroidmarc/3091797626/ showed up at 28 weeks.

Frightening? Yes. Potentially dangerous? Yes.

End of the world? Nope :).

So hang in there.

Scary stuff. My mother suffered from preeclampsia and my youngest brother was born, in the early sixties, at about 6 months, if what she told me was correct. The doctors then considered him a miracle baby. Today, NICU's handle much younger babies, but it's certainly not the ideal. My first was also a preemie, but at 35 weeks, not 27. That was scary enough. I hope that even if you choose to work on your laptop that you are only working part-time, taking naps and not pushing to reach deadlines. Also, if you enjoy reading, consider getting someone to bring you a few good books; they're much better than daytime TV, in my experience. But, I'm a reader, so ymmv.

Best of luck to you and your family.
